Facts About Being Overweight Facts About Fatal Excess Pounds!

Facts about being overweight can be extremely disturbing when they are considered properly by people like me, who know they weigh too much. Problem is, we know we are overweight, but are not quite sure what to do about it! Personally, this is now such a problem for me that I really must do something about my weight problem. Why? I have been really disturbed by the latest facts about being overweight!
What is so concerning about the current facts about being overweight?
Here is the list of facts that got through to me:
1. Researchers have estimated that 64% of the population of the US are overweight or obese
2. 48 percent of people in Europe are overweight
3. Officially, 27% of the American population is obese
4. Obesity is responsible for 325,000 deaths each year
5. Costs associated with obesity treatments were estimated at approximately $75 billion dollars in 2003.
6. 300 million people worldwide are obese
7. Worldwide 750 million people are classified overweight
8. For 2008, it was anticipated that the weight loss market would hit revenue of approximately $61 billion dollars
The last item on my list is probably the fact that affected me most. I hate the thought that lack of exercise or correct diet could cut my life short. I have to admit to hardly ever exercising and being nearly 50 pounds overweight. I also have to admit the facts about being overweight have finally registered! I now realize with some urgency that if I want to watch my kids grow up and meet my future grandchildren, I must stay active and do something about my excess weight immediately!
Much to the relief of my family I have now made a beginning on changing my lifestyle. After researching the facts above I also did some research on weight loss and the latest diet plans, and have discovered that there is no "quick fix'. To get healthy and in good shape I need a combination of a balanced, healthy diet and a simple exercise plan. The research shows that most people who take this approach manage to lose weight and keep it off.
By the way, I also found out that:
* Keeping weight off for long periods is difficult using weight loss pills
* When you use fad diets or Hollywood style weight lose plans, all you really lose is water! That same water usually returns very quickly once you start eating properly again.
* In the long term, it is important to be responsible for knowing how to prepare your food and knowing exactly what to prepare. For this reason, expensive pre-packaged diet meals only really benefit the manufacturers.
* Although it is possible to build large muscles using expensive gym equipment, the only real way to lose the fat layer above muscles is to also use a proper eating plan
Just what to do about being overweight can be extremely daunting, can't it? Don't fall into the trap of giving up though, just because it all seems too hard! To ensure happy, healthy and long lives we all need to ensure we implement correct healthy diet and activity into our daily routines.
Fact is, now I know about the risks my lifestyle is exposing me to I'm going to make a commitment to a healthy weight loss program as soon as possible. For me personally, the facts about being overweight have got through at last, and are motivating me to take this opportunity to turn my health around and ensure I will be around to see my grandchildren!
Finding a healthy way to lose weight does not have to be expensive, nor does it have to involve magic diets, expensive gym equipment and toxic diet pills. In fact a quick search of the net will provide a couple of programs proven to assist healthy weight loss without costing enormous amounts of money.
